Original Mayan civilization figure sculpture with chamotte sculpture clay.
Maya goddess of suicide in mythology and wife of Chamer. In Mayan tradition, suicide, especially hanging oneself, was considered an honorable death; especially when compared to the victims of sacrificial rites and the warriors slaughtered. Ixtab was depicted as a corpse with a rope tied (often hung) around its neck and would accompany those who had committed suicide to eternal life.
