They Were Expendable Movie Poster
The movie "They Were Expendable" is directed by John Ford and starring Robert Montgomery, John Wayne and Donna Reed. It tells the story of a motley crew of PT Boat Captains who were cut-off from help when Japan invaded The Philippines during World War II, showcasing both their exploits in the field as well as personal struggles back at home base.
This historical war drama presents an intimate view into how these brave individuals coped with being cast aside by their own army due to seemingly overwhelming enemy forces bearing down on them - hence the title 'they were expendable'.
