An Ouroboros in Egypt 1, Göksu Emiroğlu
"An Ouroboros in Egypt" centers upon rebirth, the infinite cycle, and the uninterrupted flow of life. While questioning the individual's place within this grand flow, the series emphasizes that existence gains meaning not in isolation, but as a part of the whole.
In the endless momentum of life, our gaze sometimes remains suspended at a single point, perhaps at a wrong stop. Yet, the universe does not hold its breath just because we have paused; whether we keep up with it or not, life continues to flow in its own rhythm. Though the characters on stage change over time, the ancient structure of the cycle remains eternal. The voids left behind by those who depart are, in truth, the beginning of a new existence. Nothing truly vanishes; everything transforms into something else. This state of flow reigns supreme, whether we realize it or not.
In this context, each ellipse in the painting stands in succession, representing an individual from life. Each ellipse—that is, each individual—possesses its own unique differences and originality. However, rather than a state of fragmentation, these ellipses symbolize an unshakable unity by coming together side by side, each with its own uniqueness. When viewed from a distance, all these orientations serve a single composition; this very harmony is the steadfast foundation of the flow and the cycle.
